The Only Way to Enter a Walt Disney World Theme Park: Disney Park Pass

Today, Disney revealed more details of its new Disney Park Pass System, which will allow you to book a pre-arrival reservation for one of its 4 theme parks. The goal is for Disney to be able to monitor its capacity, to allow for physical distancing as recommended by the CDC.

In order to get into a theme park, you will need:

*A valid theme park ticket for that date

*A Disney Park Pass reservation for one theme park, on that same date

It will require BOTH to get into a Walt Disney World theme park, for the foreseeable future.

To get the Park Pass reservation system ball rolling, Disney will open up booking on the following dates:

*June 22nd: all guests who currently have BOTH a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel reservation AND and valid theme park ticket. This will include Annual Passholders who currently have a reservation at a Disney hotel.

*June 26th: Annual Passholders, without a hotel reservation.

*June 28th: Guests with valid tickets, without a hotel reservation. This will include guests staying off Disney property for their vacation.

You can read more details about Disney Park Pass here. Park Pass reservations will be required to enter when the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom open on July 11, and Epcot and Hollywood Studios open on July 15, 2020.

What does this mean for the future of Walt Disney World vacations? Well, for the time being, you won’t be able to just show up at the theme park and purchase a ticket for that day. Advanced reservations will be required. While this is a temporary requirement, Disney has not announced an end date for this new Park Pass reservation system.

What if you don’t have reservations yet, but you want to visit this year? Disney is currently not booking any new hotel reservations for 2020, or selling theme park tickets. This is temporary, and Disney hopes to open up bookings and ticket sales for 2020 later this year.

What if you want to get a jump on next year’s vacation plans? You’re in luck! Beginning June 28th, reservations for 2021 Walt Disney World vacations will be open for booking!
